Mye Goode Olde Woode Chaire by *boblea. The suggester was full of praise for this one and said, "It is a chair made, no crafted, from sycamore and is one of the most beautiful pieces of woodwork that I have seen in a very long time. The proportion is good and the workmanship, finishing, and carving are excellent."

Description
1993. Life was good. I had time on my hands so I bought some sycamore locally and made this chair. After I built and carved it I scorched it with a blowlamp, rubbed it down, stained it, sealed it with shellac and gave it seven or eight coats of wax.
I love old furniture, really old furniture. The basic design is loosely based on English oak chairs from around 1600 although the girl's face and kingfishers went a bit art nouveau-ish.
It's very heavy and very comfortable and looks totally out of place in the small, modern house we rent these days.
Please respect my copyright, thanks.
